H. Aldervan Daly, CFRE

H. Aldervan Daly, CFRE, is a nonprofit strategist, fundraiser, educator, and consultant with more than three decades of experience strengthening mission-driven organizations. Through H. Aldervan Daly & Associates, LLC, he partners with nonprofit leaders, boards, and development teams to assess fundraising practice, deepen donor relationships, clarify strategy, and build practical plans for sustainable contributed income.

His work centers on the parts of fundraising that organizations most often get wrong: major gift strategy, annual fund planning, donor segmentation, stewardship systems, board engagement, development operations, and the alignment of communications with fundraising goals. Aldervan is known for pressing leaders past habit and urgency toward the harder question of why a program works the way it does, and what it would take to do better.

That perspective is grounded in senior advancement leadership across human services, youth development, housing, civic, and arts organizations, including roles at HousingPlus, Rising Ground, the Police Athletic League, The New York Foundling, and the Partnership for New York City. He is the creator of Thoughtful Insight, a long-running series of articles on fundraising practice and nonprofit leadership, and a frequent speaker on trauma-informed fundraising and donor relationships.

Aldervan serves on the Global Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is active with the African American Development Officers Network and Men of Color in Development. He holds an MFA from Virginia Tech and a BA from Rhodes College, and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.

H. Aldervan Daly has been an invaluable fundraising consultant for the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company for over two decades, seamlessly integrating with our staff as it grew over time and embodying the spirit and mission of our organization in every strategy he develops. His depth of experience—from annual appeals to major donor cultivation and event planning—is matched by his responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and genuine ease of collaboration. Aldervan doesn’t just understand our brand—he amplifies it, helping us connect with supporters in ways that are both authentic and effective.
